There was evening and There was morning

Today my devotional was talking about creation again, this time from the first chapter of Genesis, here's what it had to say...
I'm improvising on the theme of creation, exploring the unexplored in the first chapter of Genesis. And i notice a little phrase at the end of each section, which get's lost in some translations, that goes something like this: "There was evening and there was morning---the second day" (the third day, the fourth day, etc.) Some believe this indicates how the Jews mark time. So now I wonder instead of starting a new creative spurt as the sun rose, what if God began at sunset and worked all night long, hammering away at the planet until something new and astonishing appeared with the rising of the sun? It reminds me of those massive thunderstorms that roll across the James River at night when I'm trying to sleep. First i hear the wind rising in the trees, slapping branches against the side of the house. In time the storm passes and i eventually fall asleep again, only to wake to a new world.  So when the six days of creation were over, maybe it wasn't  just God needed the rest, but the exhausted earth itself. Shocked and raw and trembling, the planet needed  a break from the fire and bellows, from the continual smash of God's creative power  on the anvil.  Perhaps the seventh day was the first foreshadowing of grace. -Sarah Arthur

This got me thinking about my favorite day of the week, that's Sunday. It's the day where i just sit and soak up the presence of God.  When i think about that day of rest, i realize how much i truly need that day, especially during the school year when i have about twenty things to do and no time to do them, and the stress is building ever so slowly. But then i get to Sunday and I put down my books and soak up his word...and reflect on the week ahead. so good! this summer God has been teaching me so much, Isaiah 43:4 says it all! So go, grab your bible and spend some time soaking up his word!

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.- Genesis 1:31-2:3
