Personal Trainer

Somewhere in the process of prayer is the help of the Holy Spirit. Perhaps that's a better visual than imagining me as your coach. Picture the Holy Spirit as your personal trainer, the eternally perky instructor doing jumping jacks by your bed in the morning with a stopwatch, hollering, "Rise and shine camper!" Your trainer oozes enthusiasm and it begins to rub off. No it's more like the trainer ties the treads onto your feet, carries you out the front door, and dumps you on the pavement saying, "i'll beat you around the block". And you're off and running-metaphorically speaking. You stretch your spiritual muscles, breathe the clean air of God's word, sweat out the good prayers through your hardworking soul. Eventually as with running you begin to look forward to the way your heart pumps like a champ and the wind lifts the hair off your forehead and the day opens up like a flower while you're out there keeping spiritual stride. So the point is that if it weren't for the Holy Spirit as my personal trainer,  i'd be a total loser- Sarah Arthur

After i read this, it gave me a new perspective on my spiritual life, running is definitely something i can relate to. I love running. i know i know. crazy, but i really do love it! I haven't done it in so long, my roommate and i are planning on starting up once it starts to get warm so i will definitely let you in on the excitement that is running.  Anyways back to running in my spiritual life, i think that this analogy applies to how we approach it we either give it our all or burn out because we think we just can't do it. But the truth is we can do it, because God is right there cheering us in the last one hundred yards as we tirelessly run with all the energy we've got left in us. Like it said in the devotional, eventually we look forward to the time when the holy spirit is overflowing into our lives. This is how it should be, we should crave it. Without God in my life i don't know what i would do, all i know is that i would be spent, tired, carelessly running along the path with no end in sight.  So let the Holy Spirit train you spiritually until your life is overflowing.

Romans 8:26-28 says....
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
