Come as you are

"The truth is, communion is called a sacrament because it brings us into the presence of the sacred, the holy-a practice helps us experience the grace of God. We're not worthy to untie the strap of Jesus's sandal, much less sit at his table. And yet he invites us anyway, no matter ho much we've messed up"- Sarah Arthur
My devotional today was talking about communion once again. The author mentioned a friend that she had that stopped going to church because she never really got the whole "God is love" thing but instead she got the "God is unhappy about your sins". This made her feel discouraged and for a while she thought that God hated her because of all the times that she messed up. Now just recently she started going to church again, she's starting to get the whole "God is love" thing. But she still cannot bring herself to go up for communion out of fear. But must i remind you that despite that, she is still there and that is truly a blessing!  As i read this i thought of how there are so many people who believe this way, but the truth is God loves you no matter what you do...even if you have messed up countless times, he still loves you. The reality is--God loves you more than you can even imagine! God invites our broken, hurt selves to his feet, so that we may know him and be forgiven of our sins...and in the meantime he is right there loving us every step of the way. He wants us to come as we are despite how much we may have messed up. He wants us to bring our brokenness to the foot of the cross and seek him with all our heart. [  see Jeremiah 29:13]
2 Corinthians 12:9 says--- "But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me"- 2 Corinthians 12:9
