Sharing the Story

Today my devotional was about sharing Christ with others, here's what it had to say...
Sure, many people are uncomfortable with that term. They associate it with forcing others to listen to something they really don't want to hear or standing on street corners holding signs announcing "vengeance is mine, saith the Lord" Those are lousy depictions of what it means to be an evangelist. We'll explore this topic further next month, but suffice it to say that evangelism means sharing the Good News about Jesus. If you call yourself a Christian, the book of your life is evangelistic by definition- the title of your book states it openly, and your words and behavior conform to that stated purpose. Most of the time this means we aren't verbally telling the story of Jesus so much as living it. But part of  living the story also means telling it sometimes. The call to articulate the Good News isn't just for the preachers or teachers. It's something we're all called to do, on a regular basis, such as when the audience in our lives asks us point blank why we go to church or what we believe or what we think about the AIDS pandemic or any of the various conversations we find ourselves in from day to day. We have a responsibility to match our verbal communication with our stated purpose. which is to glorify God. so what's your story? - Sarah Arthur

This got me thinking about what i strive to do everyday, which is Glorify God in everything that i do and say. I must admit I fail sometimes.....but i remember that i can wake up the next day and try all over again because even in those moments when we feel like we've failed,  God still loves us no matter what..soak that in for a minute. Matthew 5:16 says, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." So let your light shine so that others may see God in you even when you don't say anything at all.

"Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.”  But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.- 1 Peter 3:13-16
