Know Your Audience

My devotion today was about knowing your audience, here's what it had to say....
John's second storytelling tactic besides keeping it to the point, was that he knew his audience. He knew that people were desperate for the Good News. He had to cut out what didn't belong, including details about Jesus appearance, age, mannerisms, and favorite food. I'm sure many biblical scholars since then have wished he hadn't, but John knew his purpose. He wasn't writing for them. He was writing for the lost and the broken and the desperate. His intended readers needed the stories that would lead to their salvation, not another PhD. If he dropped that focus, if he forgot his audience, then he could easily lead them astray into trivialities, where they'd lose interest or lose their trust in him and go off searching for some other story that would give them a straight answer. The same is true for us. Who are the people we sit down with at lunch everyday, the people that serve us coffee or pick up our garbage. These people are our audience. They are the ones who're reading the books of our lives. Were not "writing" for other Christians. Instead were writing for the hurting, the lonely, the desperate, the bored. If we actually listen to what they have to say then we have a good grasp on what part of the story they need to hear- Sarah Arthur

This got me thinking that about how many people we encounter everyday and how God's love should shine through us so that they can see him in us. It's not about us, it's about him....to that i say..."amen!"   But God never ceases to amaze me, he is always there to remind me that he loves me so much. The creator of the grass outside and the sun, loves me! Thanks God for loving me even when i fail. Here's what the  bible has to say...
"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete"- 1 John 1:1-4

Also i wanted to share this verse and devotional with you, read it and soak it up!
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience
and having our bodies washed with pure water
- Hebrews 10:22
