Priorities, Priorities

Today my devotional was about priorities, here's what it had to say....
Well, as i write this entry Lent is winding down and Holy Week is right around the corner-that week in the church calender running from Palm Sunday to Easter. It's one of my favorite times of the year. Recently I was astounded to learn about a church somewhere that decided to move Easter to a different Sunday so it wouldn't interfere with Spring Break. Now i suppose you could argue that this was a noble thing to do, given our cultural situation. Families were missing one of the most important events in the Christian story because they were out of town, so the church attempted to accommodate their needs. And really, what difference does it make which Sunday you celebrate Easter on? Isn't every Sunday a mini-Easter, in a way? Well yes, i suppose. so the point is, Easter is there for a reason. To change the date is cut oneself off from the ongoing story of the Christian year and from one's fellow Christians around the world who are all celebrating the same day. But even more important, it shows just how messed up people's priorities are. If Easter is so crucial, then why not move Spring break instead? -Sarah Arthur.

As i thought about "Priorities" in my spiritual life, i thought about the many priorities that i have in my life. As i thought about all of those things the one thing that really stuck out was the "Priority" that i have to spend time with God everyday. Each day, i can't wait for this time. some days i can't eat my breakfast fast enough just to get to the time where i spend with him soaking up his word. Yesterday i was reading in Habakkuk and this verse jumped out at me, "The Lord is in his holy temple let all the earth be silent before him". And this made me think, i am good at talking to God and telling him what i want and praying for others, but just sitting and listening to what he has to say to me...now that's something that doesn't happen very often. Listening to what God has to say to us is so important and it's something that i want to incorporate into my daily devotions with him. So dear blogger reader, pray for me. And remember that in those times when life seems so crazy and you feel like you have so many "priorities" just sit in silence with God and Listen.
 Luke 22:7-13 says...

Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.  Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”“Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked. He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters,  and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.” They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
