I am reading Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne and with each turn of the page, i just have to read more. When he is talking about how in college, he always felt like there was something missing from church and how he read about the church in Acts, how everyone shared their possessions and nothing was counted as there own. As i was reading this in January, my prayer is that people will read acts and see how amazing it would be if the church wasn't just some building, it was a community that depended on God to come through or else they would be in trouble.
He also talked about when he and friend went to Calcutta to work with Mother Theresa, helping people who were fighting disease and eventually death. He talked about how he found Jesus in the sick and dying. As i read that, i could definitely relate. Last year i went on a Spring Break mission trip to Mexico and we helped build a parsonage for a pastor and his family. It was amazing how happy they were and yet they were so poor. The families that we stayed with had so much love to give, I saw Jesus in everyone of those people..i will never forget when we got off the bus the day that we arrived in Obregon and all of the families were standing outside to greet us as we got off the bus. Even then i knew there was something different about them :) Love is one of the greatest gifts we can give people, "Love God, Love People"
