Sharper Than a two-edged sword

Hebrews 4:12 says--
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart"

Have you ever had that happen to you when you read God's word? Does his word ever pierce your heart and cause you to refocus and get back on the path toward him if you are falling off. Do you ever have those times where your reading your bible and you read a verse that just hits you in the  face and happens to be just what you needed that day...i know I have. Those are the times when i am reminded to thank God for meeting me right where I'm at and never letting me go. He always meets us right where we are, picks us up where we have left him behind and brushes us off when we  are face first in the dust. Psalm 139:23 says, "search me O' God and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts" This verse right here, can be our prayer when we feel as though God is trying to tell us something through his word. Since his word his sharper than any two edged sword, it is living and active in our lives. weather we recognize it or not, it's ever present in our lives. So i encourage you to take note of those times when God's word penetrates your heart and turns out to be just what you need.

Here's a little snippet of my devotional for today--"Does God's word ever cause you discomfort? when you read the Bible does what you read make you uneasy? do you find when you listen to sermons that the scripture seems to be aimed directly at you? you are experiencing the reality that the word of God is alive and can read your thoughts and judge your intentions. When God's word speaks to you it is always for a purpose. God knows your heart and knows what you need to do to bring your life into conformity to Christ"
