Wedding Season

My devotional today was talking about the bridegroom of Christ, here's what it had to say...
My husband and i were on a long walk one afternoon when we decided to stop for ice cream on campus and then head to the chapel cloister, where there is a bench to sit on. We'd been there no more than two minutes when we glanced up to see a gourgeous bride waiting at the side door of the chapel for her cue to enter. She was alone- i have no idea where her father was- and she was pacing.  It seems appropriate to be discussing the second coming smack in the middle of americas biggest wedding season. This is the time of year when love struck couples gaze into each others eyes and make promises they wouldn't dare to make to their parents, to their best friends, or even to God. And in the midst of it all whispers a voice from Revelation, saying "The spirit and the bride say, Come" (22:17). Jesus will return like a groom for the church, his bride, and then all the florists and parents, graduates and goons of the world will cease their striving, and the great wedding banquet will begin. -Sarah Arthur

When i read todays devotional, it got me thinking about verse 31-33 in Matthew 25 which says,
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.  All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left:"-Matthew 25:31-33. I loved how it described, Jesus as "coming back like a groom for the church, his bride, and then all the florists and parents, graduates and goons of the world will cease their striving, and the great wedding banquet will begin". In Todays verse is about the parable of the ten virgins, it says it all...

“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
6 “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
7 “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’
9 “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’
10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’
12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour- Matthew 25:1-13
